Ampoule Packaging From Factory Floor to Pharmacy

Ampoule Packaging From Factory Floor to Pharmacy
Jornen recently supplied a pharmaceutical company with a production line for parenteral products. The process begins with inspecting the ampoules using a light inspection system. After inspection, the ampoules are transferred to a labeling machine. Once labeled, they are conveyed to a blister packaging machine.

In the blister packaging feeder, the ampoules move along a conveyor belt toward a track. A moving, rake-shaped guiding device travels back and forth in front of the track, directing the ampoules into the track and arranging them in rows. After passing through the track, the ampoules are transferred to a circular drum.

This circular drum has grooves on its surface that perfectly fit the ampoules. The drum, now loaded with ampoules, rotates 90 degrees, switching the ampoules’ orientation from vertical to horizontal. A robot then picks up the entire row of ampoules and places them into the blister packaging machine.

After punching, the blister web forms individual blister cards. A robotic arm then moves these blister cards to a conveyor belt of the connection unit. This conveyor belt then transports the blister cards to the cartoning machine’s feeding area. In this area, a continuously rotating chain plate synchronously transfers the blister cards from the conveyor belt to the cartoning machine.

Subsequently, the blister cards and product leaflets are pushed into cartons. After the cartoning process, the cartons enter the overwrapping machine. The overwrapping machine wraps multiple cartons together to form a larger packaging unit. This unit is then sent to the case packing machine.

In the case packing machine, a robotic arm neatly places the overwrapped packages into cardboard cases. After sealing, the cases are automatically discharged.

The discharged cases then move to an automatic strapping machine, which straps them in both longitudinal and transverse directions. After strapping, they are conveyed to the final palletizing station.
